Short Bio

Karima Velasquez has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from Central University of Venezuela, and a PhD in Information Science and Technology from the University of Coimbra. Since 2014 she has been working as a researcher attached to the Group of Networks, Communications and Security at the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra, where she also works as an assistant professor in the Department of Informatics Engineering. She has over 15 years of experience working on research groups and participating in national and international research projects. She has co-authored over 30 conference and journal papers. She has participated as a TPC member of WMCN, LANC, DRCN, and DML-ICC; and participated in the organising committee of FlexNGIA 2023 and CODASPY 2024. She is an assistant editor for the Elsevier Internet of Things journal. Her research interests include Cloud-to-Edge continuum, edge intelligence, and network management and orchestration.
